In Radovljica, as is the case throughout the whole of Slovenia at this time, all restaurants remain closed. Therefore, we asked Taste Radol'ca's restaurateurs how they are spending their time and how they are preparing for when they can once again open their doors.
The period of quarantine that we are currently in owing to the COVID-19 virus is continuing and, at this point in time, there is no way of knowing when we will be able to again relax and enjoy sitting on the terraces of restaurants, laugh in the company of friends, and praise the food on the table. Oh, how we are already missing such moments!
Despite everything, this isn't a time of complete rest for some of our restaurateurs. While there are no events taking place at the current time, they are already making plans for new ones, and coming up with new ideas and recipes. Some of them are also using this time to carry out some minor renovations.
At Gostišče Draga you can order a 3-course meal or one of six dishes from the menu for €12 euros, including delivery. From Monday 20th April it is also possible to collect food and drink in person from in front of the entrance to the restaurant in the Draga valley.

Vila Podvin is also active at this time. In fact, they have set about two projects! They are delivering traditional dishes to your door prepared based on chef Uroš Štefelin's recipes. Lunch is available every Tuesday and Thursday, for which orders must be placed a day in advance, while on Fridays and Saturdays you can order focaccia and craft beer to be delivered to your door.
Uroš is carrying out his other project from home, where, together with his teenage daughters, he is filming videos of recipes (in the Slovenian language) for delicious dishes that you can make at home. You can follow Uroš and his 'helpers' on Youtube, Facebook, and on the Vila Podvin website.
At Restavracija Center in Lesce, despite being closed to the public, they are cooking behind closed doors. From 12noon to 7pm, you can choose from a choice of eight pizzas for delivery as well as a selection of dishes from the menu (burgers, ribs, Wiener schnitzel or fried calamari with chips, chicken curry with rice...)Updates to the menu are available on published on the restaurant's Facebook page.
The remainder of Taste Radol'ca restaurants are making the most of the current situation by carrying out renovations and delivering lunches to those companies that are still operating, as well as by discovering and testing new recipes that will be welcome additions to their menus when the restaurants are again able to open.
During this period of self-isolation Gostišče Tulipan is on hand to provide sweet treats with its delicious freshly-made desserts. Selected fresh desserts are available every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which can be collected from the restaurant or delivered to your door.

At Gostišče Tulipan, when it re-opens, guests will be able to dine on its renovated terrace, where you can enjoy the specialities of this Lesce-based restaurant. Restavracija Tabor has also set to work on landscaping its garden, planning new events and preparing some changes to its menu and additions to its wine cellar. During this time of quarantine, guests can order wine directly from Restavracija Tabor, which, upon advance payment, can be collected from in front of the restaurant in Podbrezje.

Don't forget that local ingredients from some of Radol'ca suppliers are still available, and using them in cooking is a great way to keep yourself – and your children – occupied for a while! This well-known Lesce-based restaurant has a tradition dating back over 25 years. For the last eight years it has been in the hands of the younger generation of the Gluščič family who have committed themselves to offering diners a wide choice and maintaining its local story.
