Throughout the three-day festival, which takes place in a marquee in the centre of Begunje na Gorenjskem, there are performances by Slovenian and foreign national folk ensembles.

Begunje na Gorenjskem is the birth place of the Avsenik brothers, who strongly influenced the music of Slovenia and Central Europe. Fans of national folk music flock to Begunje for concerts, to visit the museum, and, every second year, for the Avsenik Festival.
