The Begunje Village Trail

The Village Trail invites you to take a walk through the birth place of Slavko Avsenik, where memories of the past are still alive.

Along the way you will learn about the history of Begunje, the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble, the Katzenstein Mansion and the work of Slovenia's most prominent architect, Jože Plečnik.

 

The trail begins at the Begunje Tourist Information centre and leads to the birth house of Slavko Avsenik where you can also visit the Avsenik Museum. Continue past the cemetery to the Robačnek Mill, and then on to St. Ulrich's church, Katzenstein Mansion, and through the horse chestnut-lined promenade and park back to the start.
