The Avsenik Museum, located within the confines of the Avsenik Restaurant
complex in the centre of Begunje, presents the development and history of the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble
. The legend of Slovene popular folk music, Slavko Avsenik
, and his older brother, Vilko Ovsenik
, are the pioneers of a music genre that took the name of Begunje and Slovenia onto the global stage.
The original instruments and attire worn by Slavko Avsenik at his concerts and on album covers are on display. You can also take some time out to view the countless acknowledgements and awards received by the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble
for their achievements in the promotion of music and Slovenia as well as gold, platinum and diamond records for the vast number of records they have sold.
A short documentary on the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble in Slovene, German, English and Italian is screened in the museum.
